Eight kilometers north-west of Nyeri town and about 215 kilometers from Nairobi . Was established in 1950. All the area over 3,200 metres (10,500 feet) together with a salient stretching eastwards down to 2133 metres is preserved as a national park. The highest point in 0l Donyo Le Satima 3998 metres (13, I20ft.). Its moorlands are covered with alpine plants -groundsels, erica and senecio. Fantastic Guru waterfalls are seen in the park. The salient contains a great variety of wildlife - buffalo, elephant, rhino, warthog, giant forest hog, bush pig, waterbuck, duiker, suni, reedbuck and the rare bongo.
Black and white colobus monkeys are plentiful. Cats are represented by lion, leopard, serval cat and many others. Birds are spectacular with crowned eagles and silvery checked horn bill dominating the scene.
From the Aberdares, visitors may proceed to Mt. Kenya National Park.
